A quick and easy creamy cheese ball flavored with everything bagel seasoning and fresh chives, perfect for snacks and entertaining.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces (225 grams) cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh chives
  • 3 tablespoons everything bagel seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Soften the cream cheese by leaving it out at room temperature for about 30 minutes or microwave for 10 seconds without melting.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and sour cream. Mix with a hand mixer or sturdy spoon until smooth and creamy, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Stir in garlic powder, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper until evenly combined.
  4. Fold in the chopped chives, reserving a few for garnish if desired.
  5. Scoop the mixture onto plastic wrap or parchment paper and form into a tight ball about 3-4 inches in diameter.
  6. Pour everything bagel seasoning onto a small plate and roll the cheese ball until fully coated, pressing gently to adhere the seasoning.
  7. Wrap the cheese ball securely and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably 2 hours, to firm up and meld flavors.
  8. Remove from fridge about 15 minutes before serving to soften slightly for easy spreading.

Notes

Use room temperature cream cheese for smooth mixing. Chill the cheese ball for at least 1 hour to firm up and meld flavors. If too soft to shape, refrigerate for 10-15 minutes and try again. For dairy-free, substitute vegan cream cheese and coconut yogurt. Fresh chives are best but green onions can be used. Homemade everything bagel seasoning can be made by toasting sesame and poppy seeds with dried garlic, onion flakes, and salt.
