A rich and creamy party appetizer combining smoky bacon, sharp cheddar, and a smooth blend of cream cheese, sour cream, and mayonnaise. Perfect for gatherings, potlucks, and game days.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 6 slices bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled
  • 3 stalks green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • Optional garnish: chopped fresh parsley or extra green onions

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Lay bacon slices on a wire rack over a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes until crispy. Alternatively, fry in a skillet over medium heat, flipping occasionally. Drain on paper towels and crumble once cooled.
  2. Soften the cream cheese by leaving it out of the fridge or microwaving for 15 seconds (do not melt).
  3. In a medium mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, sour cream, and mayonnaise. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed for 2-3 minutes until creamy and lump-free. If mixing by hand, whisk vigorously until smooth.
  4. Stir in garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, and black pepper. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
  5. Gently fold in shredded cheddar cheese and crumbled bacon, reserving some bacon bits for garnish.
  6. Add chopped green onions and stir gently to combine.
  7. Cover and refrigerate the dip for at least 1 hour before serving to let flavors meld and the dip firm up.

Notes

Softening the cream cheese is key to a smooth dip. Oven-baking bacon on a wire rack yields consistent crispiness and less mess. Chill dip for at least 1 hour or overnight for best flavor and texture. Can substitute sour cream with Greek yogurt or use dairy-free alternatives for vegan versions. Add cayenne pepper for a spicy kick or smoked paprika for vegetarian smoky flavor.
