These crispy air fryer chicken parmesan bites are quick, easy, and perfect for a comforting snack or appetizer. Coated in a cheesy, herby breadcrumb mixture and served with a tangy marinara dip, they deliver a satisfying crunch and juicy interior.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound chicken tenders, trimmed of excess fat (or chicken breast cut into bite-sized pieces)
  • ½ cup finely grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup plain breadcrumbs (Panko preferred)
  • Olive oil spray
  • 1 cup marinara sauce for dipping

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken tenders dry with paper towels to help the coating stick better. Trim any excess fat or uneven bits.
  2. In a shallow bowl, combine Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, paprika, salt, pepper, and breadcrumbs. In another bowl, beat the eggs until smooth.
  3. Dip each chicken piece into the beaten eggs, letting excess drip off, then dredge thoroughly in the breadcrumb mixture. Press gently to adhere the coating. Place coated pieces on a plate or baking sheet.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) and let it run empty for 3-5 minutes.
  5. Spray the air fryer basket lightly with olive oil spray. Place chicken pieces in a single layer, not touching, to allow air circulation. Lightly spray tops with olive oil.
  6. Cook for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). Watch closely around the 8-minute mark to avoid burning.
  7. If needed, cook an extra 1-2 minutes. Avoid overcrowding the basket—cook in batches if necessary.
  8. Remove and let rest for 2 minutes before serving with warm marinara dip on the side.

Notes

Pat chicken dry before breading for best crispiness. Press breadcrumbs firmly to adhere coating. Cook in a single layer to avoid sogginess. Use a meat thermometer to ensure internal temperature reaches 165°F. For gluten-free, substitute breadcrumbs with almond flour or gluten-free panko. For dairy-free, omit Parmesan and use nutritional yeast.
