An easy and quick recipe for perfectly crispy salmon skin with tender, flaky fish inside, brightened by fresh lemon and dill. Ideal for busy weeknights or light lunches.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 salmon fillets, skin-on, about 6 ounces (170 grams) each
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium lemon, zested and juiced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • Optional garnish: lemon wedges and additional dill sprigs

Instructions

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.
  2. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels to remove moisture.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the lemon zest, chopped dill, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Brush the salmon skin lightly with olive oil, then sprinkle the seasoning mixture evenly over the skin side.
  5. Place the salmon fillets skin-side down in the air fryer basket, making sure they don’t overlap.
  6. Cook for 8-10 minutes depending on thickness; about 9 minutes for medium doneness (145°F/63°C internal temperature).
  7. Check for doneness: the salmon should flake easily with a fork and the skin will be golden and crispy.
  8. Remove carefully with tongs or a spatula to keep the skin intact.
  9. Drizzle with fresh lemon juice before serving and garnish with extra dill and lemon wedges.

Notes

Pat salmon dry before cooking to ensure crispy skin. Preheat air fryer for best results. Avoid overcrowding the basket; cook in batches if needed. Do not flip the salmon during cooking. Use a meat thermometer to check for 145°F internal temperature. Spray basket with non-stick spray if salmon sticks. Leftovers can be reheated in air fryer at 350°F for 3-4 minutes to re-crisp skin.
