A quick and easy savory snack featuring tender asparagus spears wrapped in crispy bacon, perfect for parties or casual get-togethers.

  • 12 medium-thick asparagus spears, trimmed
  • 6 slices thin to medium cut bacon
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Optional: pinch of smoked paprika

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Trim the asparagus by snapping off the woody ends until they naturally break, leaving about 12 medium-thick tender stalks.
  3. In a mixing bowl, toss asparagus with 1 teaspoon olive oil, ½ teaspoon garlic powder, and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
  4. Group 3-4 asparagus spears together and wrap one slice of bacon around each bundle, starting near the bottom and spiraling up. Tuck the end underneath to secure.
  5. Place the bundles seam side down on a wire rack set over a baking sheet. If no wire rack is available, place directly on a foil-lined baking sheet and plan to flip halfway through baking.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes, checking after 15 minutes. Bacon should be golden and crispy, asparagus tender but not mushy. Optionally broil for 1-2 minutes to crisp any soft spots, watching closely to avoid burning.
  7. Remove from oven and let rest on the rack for 3-5 minutes before serving.

Notes

If bacon browns too fast before asparagus is tender, loosely cover bundles with foil and continue baking. Use a wire rack if possible to keep bacon crispy. Flip bundles halfway through baking if no rack is used. For reheating, warm in a 350°F oven for 8-10 minutes to crisp bacon; avoid microwaving.
