  • 1/4 cup (25g) grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water (egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast: In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Stir gently and let sit for 5-7 minutes until foamy.
  2. Make the dough: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Slowly pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough: Turn dough onto a floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Let the dough rise: Place dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Prepare the filling: Mix mozzarella, pepperoni, marinara, Parmesan, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder in a bowl until well combined.
  6. Roll out the dough: Punch down the dough and roll it out on a floured surface into a 12×8 inch rectangle about 1/8 inch thick.
  7. Assemble the rolls: Spread filling evenly over dough, leaving a small border. Roll dough into a tight log starting from one long side.
  8. Cut the rolls: Slice the log into 1-inch thick pieces and place seam-side down on a prepared baking sheet spaced 1 inch apart.
  9. Brush with egg wash: Brush each roll with the egg wash for a golden, crispy finish.
  10. Bake: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake rolls for 15-18 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
