  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons neutral oil (avocado or vegetable oil)

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated or finely minced
  • Pinch of red chili flakes (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • 2 scallions, thinly sliced (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Wrap the tofu block in paper towels and place something heavy on top for about 15 minutes to remove excess water.
  2. Cut the pressed tofu into bite-sized cubes, then toss them in a mixing bowl with 2 tablespoons of cornstarch until coated evenly.
  3. In a large skillet, heat about 2 tablespoons of oil over medium heat. Once hot, add the tofu cubes in a single layer and fry for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy. Remove and set aside on a paper towel-lined plate.
  4. In a bowl, whisk together orange juice, soy sauce, maple syrup, rice vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and red chili flakes (if desired).
