A fun and festive Halloween pizza recipe featuring mini hot dogs wrapped in pizza dough strips to look like mummies, topped with tomato sauce, mozzarella, and olive eyes. Quick, easy, and perfect for parties or family treats.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound (450g) pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 12 mini hot dogs or cocktail sausages
  • 2 cups (200g) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup (240ml) tomato sauce or pizza sauce
  • 12 sliced black olives
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and allow it to heat for 10-15 minutes.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine tomato or pizza sauce with Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes if using. Stir well and set aside.
  3. On a lightly floured surface, roll or stretch the pizza dough into a roughly 12×9 inch (30×23 cm) rectangle with about ¼ inch (6 mm) thickness.
  4. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice the dough into ½-inch (1.3 cm) wide strips.
  5. Wrap each mini hot dog or cocktail sausage loosely with dough strips, leaving a small gap for the eyes. Place wrapped mummies on a parchment-lined baking sheet about 1 inch (2.5 cm) apart.
  6. Brush the dough strips lightly with olive oil to help them brown.
  7. Spoon a small amount of the seasoned tomato sauce onto each mummy, then sprinkle about 2 tablespoons (20g) shredded mozzarella cheese on top.
  8. Place two sliced black olive pieces on each mummy to create eyes.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes until the dough is golden brown and cheese is melted and bubbly.
  10. Let the mummies cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Let dough come to room temperature before working to avoid cracking. Brush olive oil on dough for a golden, crisp finish. Tent with foil if browning too fast. Broil for last 1-2 minutes for extra crispness but watch closely. Avoid overloading with sauce or cheese to prevent sogginess. Leftovers keep well refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheat in oven at 350°F for 5-7 minutes. Avoid microwaving to keep crust crisp.
