A quick and easy recipe for crispy baked salmon with a sticky, sweet honey garlic glaze that delivers tender, flaky fish with perfectly crisp edges.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 salmon fillets, skin-on, about 6 ounces (170 grams) each
  • 2 tablespoons honey (preferably raw or mild-flavored)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
  2. Pat dry the salmon fillets with paper towels. Place them skin-side up on the lined baking sheet, spacing evenly.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, olive oil, lemon juice, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using until glossy and well combined.
  4. Brush the glaze generously over the top of each salmon fillet, coating every bit.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, depending on thickness, until salmon flakes easily with a fork but remains moist.
  6. Optional: Broil for 1-2 minutes at the end to add extra crisp to the glaze and skin. Watch closely to avoid burning.
  7. Remove from oven and let rest for 3 minutes to allow juices to redistribute.
  8. Serve immediately with a squeeze of fresh lemon if desired.

Notes

Pat salmon skin dry thoroughly before baking to ensure crispiness. Do not overcrowd the pan to avoid soggy skin. Optional broil step adds extra crisp but watch carefully to prevent burning. For gluten-free, substitute soy sauce with tamari or coconut aminos. Leftovers keep well refrigerated for up to 2 days and reheat best in a low oven or toaster oven to maintain crispness.
