A simple, cozy peach butter made in a slow cooker with just five ingredients and warming spices. Perfect for spreading on toast, stirring into yogurt, or dolloping on pancakes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 pounds fresh peaches, peeled, pitted, and sliced
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prep the peaches by blanching them in boiling water for 30 seconds, then plunge into ice water to loosen the skin. Peel, pit, and slice into 1/2-inch pieces.
  2. Add sliced peaches, sugar, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and lemon juice (if using) into the slow cooker. Stir gently to combine.
  3. Cover and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours, stirring gently around the 6-hour mark. If too liquidy near the end, leave the lid slightly ajar to let moisture escape.
  4. Optional: Use an immersion blender or regular blender to puree the peach butter to your desired texture.
  5. Allow the peach butter to cool to room temperature, then transfer to sterilized jars or airtight containers. Store in the refrigerator for up to two weeks or freeze for up to 3 months.

Notes

If peach butter is too thick after cooling, stir in a splash of water or fresh peach juice to loosen. For more intense spice flavor, add a cinnamon stick during cooking and remove before blending. Peeling peaches is recommended for smooth texture. Stir occasionally during cooking to prevent sticking. Adjust sugar to taste depending on peach sweetness. If peaches are extra juicy and peach butter is runny after blending, simmer uncovered on stove for 15-20 minutes to thicken.
