A quick and easy festive snack featuring fluffy popcorn coated in creamy white chocolate and topped with patriotic red, white, and blue sprinkles. Perfect for holiday celebrations and crowd-pleasing at any party.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup (100g) popcorn kernels
  • 12 ounces (340g) white chocolate chips or chopped white chocolate
  • 2 tablespoons (28g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/2 cup (about 80g) patriotic sprinkles (red, white, and blue)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Cooking spray or oil for popping kernels

Instructions

  1. Heat 1-2 tablespoons of oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the popcorn kernels and cover with a lid. Shake occasionally to prevent burning. When popping slows to 2-3 seconds between pops, remove from heat. Pour popcorn into a large bowl, discarding unpopped kernels.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl or double boiler, combine white chocolate and melted butter. Heat in 20-second bursts if microwaving, stirring between each, until smooth and glossy. Stir in vanilla extract.
  3. Pour the melted chocolate mixture over the popcorn. Using a spatula, gently fold and toss to coat evenly, working quickly before chocolate sets.
  4. Immediately sprinkle patriotic sprinkles over the popcorn and fold gently to distribute evenly.
  5. Spread the coated popcorn on a parchment-lined baking sheet in a single layer. Let sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes to harden, or refrigerate for 15 minutes for faster setting. Avoid stacking until fully set.
  6. Once set, break into clusters or leave as is. Sprinkle a light pinch of sea salt over the top before serving.

Notes

Use low heat and stir frequently when melting white chocolate to avoid burning. Add sprinkles immediately after coating to ensure they stick. For vegan version, substitute dairy-free white chocolate and coconut oil for butter. Store popcorn in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. Refrigeration is possible but may harden chocolate; allow to come to room temperature before serving.
