  • Black decorating icing (for mouth and scars)
  • About 12 pairs candy eyes
  • Optional: chocolate chips or mini M&Ms for added texture (especially for hair or bolts)

Instructions

  1. Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt 3 tablespoons of unsalted butter.
  3. Add 10 oz of marshmallows and stir continuously until completely melted and smooth, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract and 1 teaspoon green food coloring until evenly mixed.
  5. Pour 6 cups of Rice Krispies cereal into a large mixing bowl.
  6. Pour the melted marshmallow mixture over the cereal and gently fold until fully coated, avoiding overmixing.
  7. Quickly transfer the mixture to the prepared pan and press evenly about 1-inch thick using a buttered spatula or wax paper.
  8. Let the treats cool completely at room temperature for 30-45 minutes (or refrigerate for 15-20 minutes to speed up).
  9. Remove the set treats from the pan and cut into rectangles or Frankenstein shapes.
  10. Decorate with black icing to draw mouths, scars, and stitches; attach candy eyes with a dab of melted marshmallow or icing; optionally press in mini pretzel sticks or chocolate chips for bolts.
  11. Let decorated treats set for another 10 minutes before serving.
