A quick and flavorful side dish featuring crisp-tender green beans, juicy mushrooms, and a buttery garlic sauce. Perfect for weeknight meals or holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed and washed
  • 8 ounces cremini or button mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional: red pepper flakes, fresh lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Trim and wash the green beans. Slice the mushrooms thinly and set both aside.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the green beans and sauté for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they start to soften but still have a bite.
  3. Push the green beans to one side of the skillet and add 2 tablespoons of butter to the empty side. Once melted, add the garlic and let it cook for about 30 seconds, stirring constantly to prevent burning.
  4. Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet and toss them in the garlic butter. Stir everything together, combining the green beans and mushrooms evenly.
  5. Season generously with salt and pepper. If you like a bit of spice, sprinkle in red pepper flakes. Cook for another 5-7 minutes, until the mushrooms are tender and golden.
  6. Optional: Finish with a squeeze of lemon juice for a fresh, zesty kick.
  7. Remove from heat and serve immediately. Enjoy while warm!

Notes

Avoid overcrowding the skillet to ensure proper caramelization. Use fresh garlic for bold flavor and adjust seasoning to taste. For added crunch, garnish with toasted almonds or sunflower seeds.
