Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup (150g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup (120ml) milk
  • ½ cup (115g) melted unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup (50g) brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • Optional: ½ cup (60g) powdered sugar for glaze
  • Optional: 1-2 tablespoons milk for glaze
  • Optional: Nutmeg for additional spice

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×4-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In another bowl, combine granulated sugar, eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
  4. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture using a spatula. Stop once the batter is just combined.
  5. In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and ground cinnamon to create the cinnamon sugar swirl.
  6. Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over the batter.
  7. Add the remaining batter on top, then sprinkle the rest of the cinnamon sugar mixture. Use a knife or skewer to gently swirl the cinnamon sugar into the batter.
  8. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Optional: Drizzle with a glaze made from powdered sugar and milk.

Notes

[‘Don’t overmix the batter to avoid dense bread.’, ‘Use room temperature ingredients for better blending.’, ‘Check for doneness with a toothpick during the last ten minutes of baking.’, ‘Let the bread cool slightly before slicing for easier cutting.’]
