This festive pumpkin-shaped cheese ball combines creamy, tangy flavors with a fun presentation, making it the perfect centerpiece for any autumn gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 16 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • Crushed pretzels or cheese crackers for coating
  • Celery stalk, pretzel rod, or bell pepper stem for the pumpkin top
  • Crackers, pretzels, or fresh veggies like celery sticks, carrots, and bell pepper strips for dipping

Instructions

  1. Start by softening the cream cheese at room temperature for about 30 minutes. Grate the cheddar cheese if it’s not already shredded.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, shredded cheddar, garlic powder, onion powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Use a spatula or hand mixer to blend until smooth.
  3. Lay a sheet of plastic wrap on your counter. Scoop the cheese mixture onto the wrap, then use your hands to shape it into a smooth ball. Twist the plastic wrap around it tightly to help maintain the shape.
  4. Place the wrapped cheese ball in the fridge for at least 2 hours, or overnight if you’re making it ahead. This helps it firm up for easy handling.
  5. Crush the pretzels or cheese crackers in a food processor or by placing them in a zip-top bag and using a rolling pin to crush them. Spread the crumbs onto a flat plate.
  6. Unwrap the chilled cheese ball and roll it gently in the crumbs, ensuring it’s fully covered. Press the crumbs lightly into the cheese ball for an even coating.
  7. Use your hands to gently press lines around the ball to mimic a pumpkin’s ridges. You can use a chopstick or the back of a butter knife for more definition.
  8. Place a celery stalk, pretzel rod, or bell pepper stem into the top center of the cheese ball to create the pumpkin stem.
  9. Arrange your cheese ball on a festive platter and surround it with crackers, pretzels, and veggies for dipping.

Notes

Make sure to soften the cream cheese for easier mixing. Chill the cheese ball for at least 2 hours to ensure it holds its shape. Customize the flavors and coating to suit your taste.
