A quick and easy frozen strawberry margarita slushie recipe perfect for summer parties, combining frozen strawberries, tequila, lime juice, and orange liqueur for a sweet, tangy, and icy cocktail.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups (300g) frozen strawberries, unsweetened if possible
  • 1 cup (240ml) tequila blanco
  • ½ cup (120ml) fresh lime juice
  • ¼ cup (60ml) orange liqueur (Triple Sec or Cointreau)
  • ¼ cup (60ml) simple syrup, adjust to taste
  • 1 cup (240g) ice cubes
  • Salt or sugar for rimming glasses (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your glasses by pouring salt or sugar onto a small plate. Rub a lime wedge around the rim of each glass, then dip the rims into the salt or sugar to coat evenly. Set aside. (5 minutes)
  2. Juice the limes until you have ½ cup (120ml) of juice. Strain to remove seeds and pulp for smoothness. (5 minutes)
  3. In your blender, combine 2 cups (300g) frozen strawberries, 1 cup (240ml) tequila, ½ cup (120ml) fresh lime juice, ¼ cup (60ml) orange liqueur, ¼ cup (60ml) simple syrup, and 1 cup (240g) ice cubes.
  4. Pulse a few times to break up the ice and fruit. Then blend on high for about 30-45 seconds until the mixture is smooth but still thick and slushy. Avoid over-blending to prevent watery texture. (2 minutes)
  5. Check consistency: it should be thick enough to hold its shape but easy to sip through a straw. If too thick, add a splash of cold water or orange juice; if too thin, add more ice cubes and pulse again. (1 minute)
  6. Taste and adjust sweetness or tanginess by adding more simple syrup or lime juice as desired. Blend briefly after adjustments. (1 minute)
  7. Serve immediately by pouring into prepared glasses. Garnish with a lime wheel or fresh strawberry on the rim if desired. (2 minutes)

Notes

Use frozen strawberries for the best icy texture. Avoid over-blending to prevent watery slush. Rim glasses with salt or sugar for authentic margarita experience. For lower alcohol, reduce tequila to ¾ cup and add extra orange juice or soda water. Agave nectar can replace simple syrup for a natural sweetener. Chill glasses before serving to keep drinks cold longer.
