A quick and easy dinner recipe featuring bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs glazed with a sweet and savory honey garlic sauce, perfect for cozy meals.

  • 6 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs
  • 1/4 cup (85g) honey
  • 1/3 cup (80ml) soy sauce (low-sodium preferred)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towels. Season both sides with freshly cracked black pepper and about 1/2 teaspoon salt. Let sit at room temperature for 10 minutes.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, minced garlic, and red pepper flakes if using. Set aside.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. When oil shimmers, place chicken thighs skin-side down. Cook undisturbed for 6-7 minutes until skin is golden brown and crisp.
  4. Flip the chicken thighs and reduce heat to medium. Cook for another 5 minutes until nearly cooked through (about 150°F internal temperature).
  5. Slowly pour the honey garlic glaze into the pan, tilting to coat chicken evenly. Lower heat to medium-low and let sauce bubble gently. Baste chicken repeatedly for 4-5 minutes until glaze thickens and clings to the meat.
  6. Continue cooking until chicken reaches 165°F internal temperature and glaze is shiny and thick. Avoid burning the glaze.
  7. Transfer chicken to a serving plate, spoon extra glaze over top, and garnish with chopped fresh parsley.

Notes

Pat chicken dry for crispy skin. Cook glaze on medium-low heat to prevent burning. Use bone-in, skin-on thighs for best texture and flavor. Add splash of water or chicken broth if glaze reduces too fast. Leftover glaze is great over rice or veggies.
